Don't tell me the sky's the limit

when there are footprints on the moon

Toothbrush to the Bicycle Tire

“They told me that I was meant for the cleaner life,

That you would drag me through the mud.

They said that you would tread all over me,

That they could see right through you,

That you were full of hot air.

That I would always be chasing,

Always watching you disappear after sleeker models,

That it would be a vicious cycle.

But I know better.

I know about your rough edges,

and I have seen your perfect curves.

I will fit into whatever spaces you let me.

If loving you means getting dirty, bring on the grime,

I will leave this porcelain home behind.

I’m used to twice a day relationships but with you,

I’ll take all the time.

And I know we live in different worlds

And we’re always really busy,

But in my dreams, you spin around me so fast

I always wake up dizzy.

So maybe one day, you’ll grow tired of the road,

And roll on back to me,

And when I blink my eyes into morning,

Your smile will be the only one I see.”

Be kind anyway.

Mrs. Drew read this during AP Lit, and it’s my all-time favorite poem from one of my favorite idols.

“People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered…
forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives…
be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies…
succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you…
be honest and frank anyway.

What you may spend years building, someone may destroy overnight…
build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, people may be jealous…
be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow…
do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough…
give the world the best you have anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it’s all between you and God…
it was never between you and them anyway.”

It’s because of you,

Because of you, I have the strength to wake up in the morning with a smile on my face and go to bed rest assured that the world is in good hands.

Because of you, the funny bone in my body causes me to laugh uncontrollably until my body shakes and my throat is sore.

Because of you, I’m no longer afraid, no longer intimidated by the top of the mountain.

Because of you, I forget the art of expression and resort to cliche atrocious words.

Because of you, I sometimes forget where I am, where I’m going, and what I’m doing.

Because of you, my writing has been shaky, my mind has been wandering through endless circles, my eyes are tired from gazing, and my heart is even more tender than before.

Because of you, I’m me, and a part of you is me, and it all sounds great when it’s you and me, but really

it’s because of you.

The journey begins

with an innocent thought. The transformation from a girl to a woman steadily pushes its way forward in my mind, allowing me no time to sulk or complain. The more I explore different aspects of my life, I’m greeted with mixed emotions(bitterness, anxiety, excitement, etc).  It is in this point I keep asking myself, where is my place in this universe?

In learning the intricacies of the world along with the endless possibilities, I’m slowly adapting. There are so many things I want to do, so many dreams, and so much help I want to give. I’m opening my mind and eyes to different opportunities, willing to make mistakes in the process. I admit, sometimes I feel terribly silly. Silly, because I already know that I’m going to struggle deeply, but I try to hide it with a smile and false reassurance. I also know that I’m going to be fighting for something my entire life, whether it be a cause, another person, or simply myself.

And it is only when I end up with a wilting heart and a bruised figure, will I know that I’ve done something right. Because for me, that’s the only way I know I’ll be victorious. I’ll try my best to remember that even if the warrior takes over me, the compassion and humility should always remain. I may be an ambitious fool, and others may call me idealistic, but I realized that this is me. So world, here it is, this is me. My name is Maggie, I don’t know if I can change the world yet because I don’t know much about it, but I’m willing to learn. I can’t sit here forever. I can’t stay here forever. But I’ll love forever, be kind to others forever, and stay humble, forever.

With a heavy heart and a soft whisper, I say, let’s go.

Because

a lot things that use to matter don’t matter anymore and the things that matter now won’t matter in the future and things might “matter” because they have matter but just know that it’s all a matter of time when you realize what truly matters.

Anonymous asked: Are you going to prom this year?

I don’t know…yet? Maybe?
^Mr. Mikasa says I show all the symptoms of a confusing woman, i.e. confusing and open-ended question type answers.

Thoughts Worth Sharing: Gab Talks

Communication. Connection. Community. In the midst of all the excitement that is happening at Gabrielino, I have to say I’m most definitely excited for GAB TALKS. This is an event that is going to take place April 30th to May 4th . I’m going to keep this short and simple and tell you that I’m stoked this is happening at Gabrielino. Inspired by the Technology, Entertainment, and Design Convention(CHECK IT OUT), this is Gabrielino’s way of allowing people to share stories and to connect with one another. This is an opportunity to leave a story, a mark, and a part of “you” in school.

During my senior year, I felt an even greater sense of community and now, GAB TALKS is hoping to bring people closer together through sharing and connecting. Communicating and connecting is part of what being in a community is all about! Love it!

And yes, this is LEGIT. You should come check it out! Come by the Theater (with your lunch and an open mind) and listen to the various speakers that are presenting. Give it a chance, you never know what you might take from it!
